BOOKS!
This is always a difficult subject, books. In our day in age, books come in many forms, paperback, hardcover, used, new, and digital. Typically, students like to buy books from the college book store and while that's great for the student, you are paying top dollar for books. For one of my classes, I only spent $5 total on all my books for the class. But, before that I used to buy my books from the bookstore and nearly spent $550 on books.
Another economically friendly option is to rent your textbooks. This is a great way to keep costs to a minimum and you don't have to worry about selling them back to the bookstore at the end of the semester.
I recommend: chegg.com
You can buy used textbooks. Ask your professor but sometimes which edition you buy does not matter, so if the book is in its 12th edition, the 11th edition is ridiculously cheap. This I experienced with my sociology class.
I recommend: Half.com
